The Travel Tag

I was nominated by the amazing Oriana to do the Travel Tag and I thought it was such a fantastic idea!

I love travelling. It is definitely something I haven’t done a lot of and I’m not a global jetsetter as I don’t exactly have the funds for that but I am so passionate about visiting other places and falling in love with their way of life and culture.

I have done a few travel posts before such as my Travel Bucket List, Pinterest Travel Inspiration, Barcelona and Yangshuo if you’re interested in checking them out.

What is your favourite place that you have ever visited?

In terms of it being a place that very few people have been to and it being quite a once in a lifetime experience, Yangshuo was just incredible. It is very close to Vietnam so the mountains are just breathtaking and I feel so honoured to have spent so much time there.

Yangshuo, China

If you could visit anywhere tomorrow, where would you go?

New York. 1000%. It is a total dream of mine to go. I know it looks vastly different from the scenery I just mentioned in China but I think the reason I would say New York is because it is almost impossible for me to ever imagine having the money to go so if I ever could, I would jump at the chance.

City holiday or beach holiday?

I love both, so much! I loved Barcelona because I enjoyed that I could do the two at once. I like visiting cities in the Spring or Autumn because it’s warm enough to wander around but not too hot that it’s exhausting (says the person going to Barcelona in June and Prague in August) and have a beach holiday in the summer – for obvious reasons!

Barcelona, Spain

Sharm El Sheikh – Egypt

My top three holiday essentials are…

  1. A disposable camera
  2. A guide or map – whether this is a physical copy or on your phone
  3. If it’s a city break, shoes that don’t destroy your feet!

Are you an over packer or under packer?

Under! I really don’t take very much with me when I travel at all. Weird for a girl who loves clothes, eh?

What is your favourite thing about going on holidays?

Being somewhere where nobody knows who I am, doesn’t necessarily speak the same language as me and where I can relax. I like just being somewhere that isn’t home where I can just be placed anywhere and get to explore it for myself.
I also love architecture. I love different and amazing buildings – Gaudi’s work in Barcelona is just sensational!

Barcelona, Spain

Paris, France

Would you rather go on holiday with family or friends?

Honestly, I would rather go with Adam or by myself as then I feel like I can make the most of what the place has to offer, either with someone who I love and enjoys the same things or alone.

Antalya, Turkey

What is the most adventurous dish you have ever tried?

I am incredibly fussy but the people we lived with in China didn’t even know hello in English so I’m not even 100% sure what I ate most of the time…

Yangshuo, China

I nominate:

I apologise if you don’t include tags on your blog or if you have been tagged before and don’t repost! I would love to see everyone do this tag though because travelling is so amazing and I love seeing where people have been and what they loved.

Do you have a favourite place you have ever visited?

  1. Woo, loved reading this! You have been to some pretty awesome places! I didn’t know you could still get disposable cameras, I used to love going into Boots to get the pics developed 🎞📷. I would love to go to New York, but don’t know how I would cope with the flight 🙈

    1. I actually loved using them and the effect they add to photos. It’s also kind of cool to not get that ‘instant’ photo that we have with phones/cameras now. I mean it sucks when you realise you’ve spent money to develop them and your finger is over the lense in most photos but I still love it haha! I feel really lucky to have visited some cool places, it’s all been off my own back just saving from my jobs! I’m worried about doing a flight that is over water constantly… no thank you!! xxx

  2. New York is so much fun (and there’s a lot you can do on the cheap) – and more budget airlines (Thomas Cook, Norwegian) are flying there now, so it’s becoming more affordable than it used to be. I love the look of those mountains in Yangshuo! I still haven’t been to Barcelona, but last year it felt like everyone I knew was going – flatmates, friends, my sister…!

    1. I keep looking in to it and I was actually surprised on some of the deals you can get! I think I might save up to go after I graduate! Aren’t they beautiful?! I knowwww, everyone is going at the moment! It’s like the Amsterdam craze! xxx

      1. It’s become no more expensive than some flights within Europe in peak season, which is incredible really when you consider the distance! That would certainly be a trip to remember 🙂 The scenery in S-E Asia looks incredible, though I suspect once I’m tied down to a 9-5 the appeal of long haul flights will fade a little!!

    1. I loved it, I had to! It was the most beautiful place, I wish I was able to continue travelling in China but I had other commitments at the time 😦 It is just the most amazing city! I am so excited to go back next month! xxx

  4. You’ve been to some beautiful places. New York is on my list of places to visit too lol. Since I live in the states, I don’t have much of an excuse. One of my favorite spots was visiting an art space in downtown roundrock, Texas. They had live music playing, outdoor water spots ( the kids had their bathing suits on and were laughing/playing it was so cute) and I purchased a small watercolor painting as a souvenir :).

    1. The States is huge so you still have more than enough excuses! I have never been to Scotland and that’s much closer than various cities in America!! Haha. That sounds so amazing, just a perfect summery memory to have, I am very jealous!! Ahh that sounds great too, I always love getting a souvenir from somewhere that I fell in love with. I have a wall hanging from Barcelona and a blanket from China so that I am constantly reminded of all those great times! xxx

      1. That sounds amazing too, I definitely want to visit Barcelona, the pictures are so beautiful of it. Yeah no kidding I live in the second largest state I believe, so there’s so much to see :0 Scotland and Ireland are on my list too, so much green I love it.

      2. Your state is probably (at least) the same size as the UK then! Makes me feel very small haha. Edinburgh is just amazing but you’d be surprised how expensive a UK holiday can be – I haven’t traveled much in the UK because it has been cheaper to do a city break abroad! Crazy really! The States are on my wish list, I have always wanted to go to America xxx

      3. It honestly might be lol but trust me most of the states in America aren’t nearly as big as mine. Lol we can totally switch places The UK is definitely on the top of my bucket list. Yeah I have heard it can get pricey, so I would definitely save up to enjoy myself over there.

  5. Amazing pictures Ella! I have had the chance to go to New York a few years back and like they say once you go there its very likely you will want to go again.
There is a country that’s been in my mind for most of my life. If I could go anywhere tomorrow I would choose it for sure, and that’s Japan.
