10 Favourites of The Past Week

current favs

I often do posts about my favourite blog posts of the past week but I thought I would mix it up this week and just mention some of my favourites, in general, from the past week.

  1. I went to the cinema twice last week which is really strange for me as I normally go once every month or so, if that. I saw Beauty and the Beast and Get Out and I honestly loved both of them. They definitely deserved the attention they have received (for very obviously different reasons) and they have both become some of the best films I have seen recently that I would totally recommend checking out.
  2. MAC Viva Glam II is a huge favourite of mine recently after a close friend gave me one to try out. The nudey-pink colour is gorgeous and the lasting power is amazing. It can be a bit of a nightmare to get hold of though, which sucks! I definitely want to try out more MAC lipsticks now. I have heard Velvet Teddy is good?
  3. My Carvela Sandals. I recently bought some in the Debenhams sale for £19 down from £80 which is a steal! They look great and they go with so much that they have quickly become a staple in my wardrobe. I grabbed the last pair in stock so I am just calling it fate
  4. Sleek Storm Palette. I have been obsessed with this palette at the moment – I posted about it twice this past month, here and here – and I am loving all the different looks you can create with it. I am going for a lot of golds now so maybe I will post about that look soon!
  5. I have binged watched 13 Reasons Why on Netflix this week and it is incredible. The show is about a girl who has committed suicide and leaves tapes for everyone to listen to who is deemed responsible for her death. The suspense is amazing and the story line is great – I really want to get the book it is based on now too.
  6. My lovely friend bought me Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey when she came to visit me this week and it was the most thoughtful gift ever. One of my other friends reviewed it on her blog recently and I really wanted to get my hands on it, so obviously I was over the moon when she handed it to me! I have pinned so many of the poems on Pinterest and they are just so beautiful and totally worth a read.
  7. I am loving my Clarins Gentle Foaming Cleanser. My skin has been playing up recently and this is one of the few things that keeps it calm when I need it most.
  8. Lush Comforter Shower Gel and Bubble Bar. I love the smell of the Comforter; it’s actually one of my favourite Lush scents. I recently picked up the ‘Sex Bomb’ to try out as I have never used it before and I thought it smelt amazing so maybe I will have a new favourite soon.
  9. After seeing Gone Girl ages ago I really wanted to get the book. I am currently reading it now and it is so cool to see the differences between what the film chose to include and what the book deems relevant. So far I have been impressed with the similarities between the book and the film but I am only half way through so far so who knows!
  10. There is a place near me called Tamu that does the most amazing desserts and I went again this week with my best friend who was visiting. They are such a good price and you get soooo much for the money that I struggle to finish them. I mean don’t they look amazing?!

What were your favourites this week?

  1. April 10, 2017 / 8:50 pm

I loved Beauty & The Beast too, it was amazing (even as a non-Emma-Watson-fan!) Great bargain you got at Debenhams, I’ve managed to pick up a couple of steal deals from there over time too, it’s worth keeping an eye out on their sale stuff 🙂

    • April 10, 2017 / 11:02 pm

Such a classic, I’m glad that didn’t stop you from seeing it! I was pretty chuffed with it if I’m honest. Oh really? You can’t go wrong in the sales!

  2. April 10, 2017 / 9:09 pm

I binge-watched 13 Reasons Why too! So good. I also just finished Milk & Honey. You’re going to love it xx.

    • April 10, 2017 / 11:01 pm

I cried so many times! Amazing show! I actually finished it today and I loved it – so beautiful. Thank you for commenting! xxx

      • April 11, 2017 / 12:41 am

It’s incredible! I hear they’re thinking of doing a season two, although I don’t know how that would work xx.

        • April 11, 2017 / 11:36 am

Yeah I heard this too! My only thoughts are that you should always end on a high and it could be quite risky to do another season just because it was so well received! I guess they would follow the parents hearing the tapes, Alex and the trial but it doesn’t seem as great as before?! xxx

          • April 11, 2017 / 1:19 pm

Yeah, I fell the exact way! Some things should just be left at great xx.

  3. April 10, 2017 / 10:38 pm

Those desserts!! Oh my good lord 😛😍

  4. April 10, 2017 / 11:48 pm

I loved Beauty and the Beast too, I heard Get Out was great as well. Those desserts look so yummy. I binge watched 13 reasons why too! I liked it more than I liked the book but then again I read the book back in high school so that was years ago lol. I haven’t bought a MAC lipstick in so long, I’ll look to see what shades they have :). My favourites this week are my rose gold sandals (similar look to Birkenstocks), non-dairy vanilla almond frozen yogurt from my local fro yo place, Coastal Scents eyeshadow (purple and brown shades) &my hair skin and nail vitamins from nature’s bounty.

    • April 11, 2017 / 11:35 am

I was expecting Get Out to be so different to how it was – I loved it! Ahh 13 Reasons Why is amazing! I naively didn’t know it was a book so it is next on my long list to read, that’s for sure! Neither have I which is why I was surprised I fell in love with it so much, it’s a beautiful colour and it’s semi-matte so stay power is great but it isn’t drying! I love it 🙂 Ohhh I love rose gold, they sound great! I have always wanted to get some hair and skin vitamins, maybe I should try some out! xx

  5. April 11, 2017 / 3:21 pm

I so want to watch 13 reasons why! I also LOVE carvela sandals – what a steal you jammy devil! X

    • April 12, 2017 / 10:13 am

It’s amazing, totally recommend! I know, I was bouncing off the walls when I got them! I also managed to get a pair of brand new white converse today for £18 including delivery! Haha x

  6. April 11, 2017 / 11:53 pm

I love Milk and Honey! I got it last year for Christmas and I honestly read it like, once a month. It’s really beautiful but also sad at some points and I’m not sure how to react to those ones. Great post!

    • April 12, 2017 / 10:15 am

Thank you so much for commenting lovely! It is so emotional and uplifting, it’s amazing! I just read it instantly because I couldn’t help myself – I’m going to read it again soon for sure x

  7. April 12, 2017 / 12:47 am

Oh my gosh those desserts look soooooo good!! I am seriously really jealous right now. I can’t wait to see Beauty and the Beast, it looks fantastic!!

    • April 12, 2017 / 10:15 am

They’re amazing, great for photos hehe! It’s incredible, I hope you like it 🙂 xx

  8. April 12, 2017 / 1:53 pm

OMG that dessert looks incredible! I’ve been loving 13 Reasons Why too! xx.

  9. April 13, 2017 / 12:00 am

All of my friends have been talking about how amazing 13 Reasons Why is, but i’m hesitant-I’ve heard its terribly sad! Lovely Post, Beauty and the Beast is wonderful, right?

    • April 14, 2017 / 10:48 am

It is terribly sad and often super uncomfortable but they kind of needed to do it to get some of the hard-hitting and honest messages across. It definitely changes your perspective about a lot so I would recommend it! I think it’s a show everyone needs to watch to realise how their actions affect others. Yeah – some scenes literally make you want to hide they’re so hard to see. On another note, Beauty and the Beast is fab!! Glad you like it too 🙂 xx

      • April 14, 2017 / 7:25 pm

Alright, on your reccomendation I will push past the sadness and give it a try!

  10. April 13, 2017 / 12:34 pm

I’ve binged about 6 episodes of 13 reasons why!! I really need to get to the rest! Love reading this kind of post!! And absolutely love the changes on the blog (logo and picture)!!

    • April 14, 2017 / 10:46 am

Thank you so much lovely, I’m glad someone likes it! Such a good show – it’s great to see some “taboo” topics actually discussed for once considering how common it is! xxx

      • April 14, 2017 / 5:43 pm

Yes. Although I have read a somewhat scary study, where they said that the show was not appropriate for teenagers, because a study has gotten to the conclusion that teenagers are more likely to commit suicide when they are presented such facts and images

        • April 14, 2017 / 6:36 pm

Gosh really? That’s quite a sobering and scary thing to read! xx

          • April 14, 2017 / 6:46 pm

Yes, my friend saw that I had re-blogged Natalie’s review and sent me the study. I’m not sure what to think about it.

          • April 14, 2017 / 6:52 pm

Do you have a link for it? I would love to read it! x

          • April 14, 2017 / 7:01 pm

“Exposure to Suicide Movies and Suicide Attempts.” (STACK, Steven; KRAL, Michael; BOROWSKI, Teresa) This is the name of the study.

          • April 14, 2017 / 7:10 pm

            Thank you so much! xx

          • April 14, 2017 / 7:11 pm
