Travel: My Bucket List

I have been very fortunate in recent years to travel to many countries that I have adored. As I grow older I want to be able to say that I was able to travel to so many more, experience new cultures, meet new people and take in some of the world’s most beautiful places.

I thought I would share my Travel Bucket List with you that I have already been working on for some time now (some will already be crossed out as a consequence) and let you guys see alongside me when I am able to achieve my travel goals, one step at a time.

There is something about LA that I have always been attracted to. It may be cliche but I really want to visit the ‘Hollywood’ sign and soak in the glamour of the place. My mum and I have been obsessed with Pretty Woman for so many years and I can think of nothing better than being a cheesy tourist and visiting all the sights of the film.

New York

I think New York is one of the places on everybody’s list. FRIENDS was a show that I have loved for years and I would love to go to the Central Perk cafe that opened in NYC and be a real British tourist. Also, it’s undeniable that NYC is one of the most amazing cities in the world. Central Park, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty and Grand Central Terminal are all top of my list to explore.

Similar to NYC, I think Dubai has an aura that is just incredible. The skyline alone is enough to make your head feel dizzy and it is a hub for World Records and World Firsts that means it makes it on to my Travel Bucket List. I mean it holds Tallest Man Made Structure, Biggest Shopping Centre, Largest Fireworks Display and First Indoor Mountain Resort. I think Dubai was one of the first destinations to trump the USA in doing things bigger, bolder and better and that’s why I am itching to go!

I visited Rome back in 2009 with my mum and it was such an amazing experience. The Vatican, the Colosseum and the city itself was incredible. The people were so friendly and accommodating and it is no lie that they make some amazing pizza.

I know that Santorini has become a bit of a blogger’s paradise recently but it is just so gorgeous and Greek-white that I can’t help but want to go. I think in recent years a lot of the Greek islands have been denoted as party places yet Santorini still retains the chic Greek look that I love. It seems to hold some of the most beautiful villas that boost equally beautiful views and I hope that soon I will have the opportunity to holiday there.

My boyfriend’s family and I actually spotted Stonehenge when we were returning from Center Parcs. Granted, I didn’t get to go up close and see it but as it is corned off now to the public, seeing from afar was just as amazing.

Anywhere I can see the Northern Lights!

There are just undeniably beautiful and it would be wrong not to feature such an amazing phenomena on this list. I know that you can sometimes see them in Scotland but I would rather visit a Scandinavian country to get the full effect!

Las Vegas

Again, another cliche but I really do want to visit Las Vegas to see if it lives up to it’s worldwide reputation. I feel like it’s a place that just sparkles and I really want to get caught up in the glitz of a fantasy life for a moment.

Berlin is a city I am really hoping I can visit with my mum someday. The pure historical references truly amaze me and being so interested in the war gives it a solid place on my Travel Bucket List. The Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie, the Holocaust Memorial and the scarred historical places which saw so much are on the top of my list to see. Also, Berlin seems to have a great atmosphere that everybody raves about, making it a very different European city (in comparison to the elegance of Paris, for example) and one that I am itching to visit.

I had the delight of visiting Barcelona this year with my boyfriend, which I actually wrote a blog post about (tagged for you). We had the most amazing time and I honestly regard it as one of the best places I have ever visited – I cannot wait to return soon. Casa Battlo, Sagarda Familia, La Rambla and the ports were such beautiful things to see and I enjoyed every minute I spent exploring the city. Barcelona has so much to offer and I feel that if I went back I would find it incredibly easy to plan another completely unique trip filled with things to see and do.

The closest I have got so far to Amsterdam is being in the airport for a layover! I really want to explore the renowned city and see some of the sights like Anne Frank’s house and the beautiful river. I am such a typical tourist and I would love to take a photo on the bench in The Fault in Our Stars and cruise up and down the canal. Similar to Berlin, I personally feel that Amsterdam stands out as a European city for being very unique; hence why it has become so popular in recent years.

I traveled to Paris last February (not Valentines!) with my boyfriend, Adam, and although the weather was honestly miserable, we absolutely loved the city and it was definitely one to tick off the bucket list. There is nothing quite like seeing the Eiffel Tower in all it’s glory and standing near some of the most renowned artwork in the Louvre. Also, being a student meant that Adam and I got free entry in to many museums and so we had so much fun exploring different places (and ultimately avoiding the elements).

I think in time I will definitely add to this list (and hopefully cross some off!) so I will update you guys if anything ever changes.

I hope you enjoyed seeing why I want to visit certain places in the world and I would love to know your Travel Bucket Lists.

Ella x

A few weeks in Santorini would be so very, very amazing! Just to relax and do a lot of nothing 😀 Great picks – I would probably add Tokyo (for the amazingly distinctive culture), Canada (especially in autumn for the beautiful leaves and nature) and somewhere like Boston (if for no reason other than to see the places the Homicide Detectives work in the American crime thrillers I read so much of!) x

Tokyo is definitely a great idea and somewhere I do really want to visit too! There are so many places in Asia I didn’t even touch on here that I would love to visit!!
I actually spent my China trip with a girl from Boston, she was lovely! x

Everywhere really. I have only been to Spain and Switzerland but I love the history and architecture in Europe. The first few that come to mind are Germany, Denmark and Britain, but my friend is in Hungary at the moment and that looks amazing!
