The Ordinary Skincare | First Impression

When I first saw this skincare flying about on blogs, Instagram and YouTube I was really intrigued. The price point was very reasonable, the packaging was super cool and everyone seemed to love it.

As you’ve guessed (mainly from the title) this is my first impressions of The Ordinary skincare. I bought 2 products recently and have been giving them a little test and I wanted to share my thoughts. Also, as a side note, the two products I am mentioning are cruelty free and vegan – as it is something I am often asked about on my reviews.

The first is the 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil 30ml. I bought this off ASOS for the mighty price of £6! So, what does it claim?

  • For healthy skin and to reduce the appearance of flaking
  • Adds a soft sheen and strength to hair

Sounds good to me! I have been applying a few little drops to my face every morning and using it as a moisturiser as well as applying it to my hair when it is damp for extra shine. So far I haven’t seen a real impact on using the oil on my hair but on my face it has made a real difference. It has kept my skin really smooth, no dry flaky patches and foundation seems to glide on effortlessly – very impressed! I also love that this is multi purpose and the size is perfect for travelling. I would definitely rate this 4/5 as I would like to see it have more of a positive impact on my hair.

Secondly, I purchased the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% 30ml. Again I got this off ASOS for the grand total of £5! This product claims to:

  • Contains Vitamin B3 to reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion
  • Balances visible sebum activity

As you may have known from a few recent posts, I have been really struggling with my skin so I was praying that this would work wonders. I have skin an improvement in my skin but I think that is more related to changes in the contraception I have been using. Side note: Would you like to see a post about my experience with the pill and how it affected me? It is possible that it did help too and it definitely didn’t have an adverse effect! I applied this every morning and night (just a few drops) and rubbed it in. Purely because I don’t think was the miracle worker, I rate this 3.5/5.

Overall, I love these products, I really do. The price point is fantastic, they do look super cool and the drop system means you don’t overuse them and I have a strong feeling these will last me forever! I am very impressed with them and would definitely try out more.

Have you tried any of The Ordinary skincare or makeup lines?

I am currently using the Vitamin C Suspension. Buffet Serum, Alpha Arbutin, and Azealiac Acid. I like them so far. I want to try the Rosehip Seed Oil too.

I haven’t heard of these before! Do you add the oil into your existing moisturizer or does it replace a moisturizer? Thanks for the review! 🙂

I’ve never tried this brand, but I thought it looked so expensive, again I can’t believe how cheap it is!

Crazy isn’t it!? I was shocked by the price! The kind of “surgical” look made me think it might be expensive tbh xx

I’m a massive fan of The Ordinary. I use Buffet, Hyaluronic & B5, Niacinamide, Advanced Retinoid, Cold Pressed Rosehip oil and now the foundations also. I’m loving all of them…I’ve written some first impressions reviews but due to write another one soon on how it’s going and where I use them in my routine. Great post xx

I’ve seen so many amazing reviews on this brand, but I don’t know where to start haha. I’ll definitely be picking up the argan oil though! xx.

I feel like it’s a good place to start because it’s always great for your hair if it’s not perfect for your skin! Xxx

      • June 27, 2017 / 5:49 pm

I’m a big fan of Josie Maran’s argan oil, but it’s so expensive. I can definitely get behind this price though xx.
