I was inspired to do this post by Angela when she shared her day in the life a while ago and it felt like a more personal and in depth version of vlogging so I thought I would give it ago. Let me know what you think!
So, today was a bit of a different day for me so I thought it was the perfect day to do this post.
I had a little bit of a lay in today because I’m working in town before going to the Hospice in the afternoon (I am currently volunteering as an Events Fundraiser at a hospice in York which I am loving!!) so I gave myself an extra 20 minutes in bed because why not.
I left for work (I do 9-4 days so I count it as work as it is easier to explain!) with my many fundraising packs to take in to town. Today was super sunny so I went for a dress and some little day barely-there heels that I adore and I felt really summery for the first time this year really.
Today I parked at the park and ride and got the bus in to the centre of York so I could spend a few hours working. Bit of background info: The event I am helping with is a Midnight Walk and the theme is neon, so cool, I know! We had the idea to put glow worms in business windows on the walk so that people could fill in a quiz and look out for them. So my aim was to go in to businesses with a pack about it all, explain the event and ask whether they would advertise it!
Okay. Okay. It is quite hot now and I feel a little gross. There is a new shop down The Shambles in York called The Shop That Shall Not Be Named and as you may have guessed – it is a Harry Potter shop! I basically begged them to be a part of the glow worm trail as my first words when I walked in to the shop were “this is what dreams are made of“. I also got a super cool Quibbler card case – which I really didn’t need of course – but I fell in love with.
All done! I got 11 individual businesses on board which was great timing! I hopped on the bus back to the park and ride before driving over to the hospice to work for the rest of the day over there.
I spent the rest of the day doing odds and ends jobs that needed doing before I go home for my Mum’s birthday. I had to ring a list of supermarkets, for example, and ask for donations of vegetarian sausages for the end of the run. Two days ago I would have been terrified to make that kind of phone call but I really am coming on leaps and bounds with it all and I am pretty damn proud of myself.
I have literally been chilling out most of the evening. I go home tomorrow so I have done a bit of packing while watching YouTube videos – I am obsessed with crime videos at the moment?! My friend actually messaged me to let me know she had given birth today which made me cry and was the most amazing news. I am so proud of her and I am crazy excited to meet the little darling.
I am just finishing off this post for it to go up tomorrow! I am now going to work on my Kant essay for Philosophy for about 1/2 hours and then finish my packing and tidying before going to bed.
Got a reasonable amount of work done for my essay and I have finished packing. For once I have realised how many clothes I have…. Spoiler: It’s a lot
I hope you liked this post! It was definitely very different for me and I really enjoyed writing it.
What did you get up to with your day yesterday?
