On April 1st I went to my first baby shower for one of my closest friends. I have never been to a baby shower before so I didn’t really know what to expect but it was honestly so lovely.
My friend doesn’t know the gender and so we had pink and blue cakes – some with raspberry and white chocolate filling and others with blueberry and white chocolate – as well as an array of other snacks for everyone.
The games were probably my favourite part. We did a quiz on nursery rhymes which I was horrific at as well as a guess the melted chocolate in the nappy which was hilarious! You can see from one of the photos that we also had a guess the person from their baby photo which is actually much harder than it looks, I can assure you.
Another favourite of the day was the A-Z book that was made for the guests. You got to pick whatever letter you wanted and draw something for it, with your name at the bottom, so the baby had a gift from everyone at the event. It was such a great idea and my octopus would have definitely rivalled any artwork in a gallery!
We also did a guess the size of the bump, where we had to cut tape to guess how big she was now. Embarrassingly, I was way off even when I was not-so-subtly measuring beside her. Her bump was actually quite a bit smaller than most her guesses but it was a fun way of seeing how big we thought she might be by now!
For my first baby shower event, I couldn’t have expected anything quite like this! The people, games and atmosphere was amazing and I am so grateful to have been there for her on her special day. I am so happy to seem my friend beautiful and glowing with just 52 days left until she pops (what!?!) and her family have definitely set the bar for baby showers to come!
