Under £20: Student Meals Out

Being a student can definitely be tough on luxuries such as a nice meal out. I enjoy eating how so much that I wanted to mention some good chain restaurants that offer great student discounts that are worth mentioning – often making them under £20 for 2 people and therefore perfect for a student budget.

I used to use NUS as my student discount go-to but paying £12 a year seemed silly now that Unidays is available as a free resource.

If you want any more advice about finance when being a student then feel free to check out my Top Tips post.

Chiquito is actually my favourite place to eat out. They are often overlooked because they’re not exactly ‘Mexican’ but they do amazing burgers for £11.95 on the Main Menu or £7.25 on the Lunch Menu (the price has crept up the past year which sucks!). However you can get yourself a lovely 25% off the Main Menu with Chiquito’s student discount. Using the Unidays app often works best and I always take my ID with me on top of that just to confirm, making that lovely burger and fries only £8.96.

Handmade Burger Co.

I love the Handmade Burger Co. so much and it is quickly catching up with Chiquito as my favourite chain restaurant to eat at. Their Classic style burger is considerably cheaper than Chiquito at £6.65 and since May they too have introduced 25% student discount making it only £4.99!! Such an amazing price! My boyfriend and I got two massive burgers each, one side of fries and another of sweet potato fries and finally a side of gherkins (as well as bottomless drinks) for only £25 with discount! A little bit more than the £20 budget but not everyone is a fan of gherkins, eh?

Pizza Express

Pizza Express always have good offers on. You can always double up your TESCO Clubcard vouchers to get money off food which makes it under £10 to eat there on occasion! If you are registered with O2 Priority you can benefit from a £5 main every week. They often offer 25% off food too as well as a set menu for a starter and main for only £9.95 – perfect for tight wallets.

Bella Italia

This one I only recently discovered so I had to tell you straight away. Bella Italia have a secret student menu where all mains are only £5!! This means you can treat yourself to the cheesiest pasta ever or a simple pizza and it costs pennies (well 500 of them…)

Finally.. If you’re really strapped for cash you can always grab a free Cheeseburger or McFlurry from Maccies with any Extra Value Meal?

Thanks for reading guys! I hope this gave you faith that you can still eat out and enjoy yourself even on a small budget.

Good picks – I miss student days & discounts! Not a fan of gherkins, yucky, but I like the sound of a burger under a fiver. Never actually been to the Handmade Burger Co so I’ll have to see where the nearest one is. I think Unidays also do 20% off Bills & Harvester too. x

It’s really good – they don’t have many restaurants across the country in comparison to other chains but worth checking out if you’re ever near one! I love Bills so I will have to do that sometime! Thank you lovely x

Really, where do you use your student card most?xx

Definitely chiquitos but you have to constantly look out for new offers or ones on for a short amount of time. Like clothes wise – always around September/October there are unidays offers for freshers so you get 25% off most places! Can’t complain! Xx
